DIY: Maps on Stools

Maps are a perfect touch for interior decor; they convey the adventurous spirit that all *charming* ladies embody. With this DIY project you'll be sitting on top of the world...or at least your favorite country. My choices? U.S.A. & London.

You'll note in the above images that, yes, my heart belongs in Michigan. <3

Materials Needed:
1. Wood stools
2. Paint (If they aren't painted already)
3. Paper map (Etsy and Paper Source are great resources!)
4. Tacky glue
5. Wood varnish

Directions:
1. Paint your stools
2. Rip the sides of your map so that the paper looks worn/torn
3. Lightly glue the paper to the top of the stools with Tacky Glue. The glue should be evenly distributed and should be smooth.
4. Varnish the top. The first coat will create a lot of air bubbles. Smooth out the bubbles with your paint brush. The first coat should be very thick so that the paper is soaking.
5. Let the varnish completely dry. Apply as many coats of varnish as you desire.
6. *Sit* back & relax.

{Side note: Thanks to my partner in crime Doug for helping me with this project. He even made the stools from scratch!}

  10. I have an obsession with maps! Have you seen The Prince and Me? I love the map over the cork board that she hangs over the bed! I want one of my own! And now these stools are amazing!
