In my recent Washington D.C. weekend getaway, I managed to wear only a few items from my suitcase the entire time. Let's not talk about the fact that I didn't check the weather, thought it'd be 80 and sunny, and was met instead with moody weather. Luckily, my keen packing skills left me with outfit options despite inadequate mental preparation.
The key to packing for any adventure is layering, neutral colors, and a bag that can hold plenty. If you pack neutrals, anything in your luggage goes together. Want some color? Throw in a few scarves, fun accessories, and red lipstick. Don't worry about matchy-matchy outfits and creating the perfect look.
Traveling should be carefree, after all. Though I certainly understand wanting your shoes to match your bag, leave that behind for a time when you don't have the world to see. That's a problem for a smaller day - your adventure should always have grander plans than what's on your body.
