Crafty Christmas :: DIY Painted Pillow

I've been busy crafting gifts for the nicest on my list, and I'm so excited to share a new DIY project with you every day this week (including Saturday & Sunday - yeehaw!) Each gift idea took 15 minutes or less and will make great budget-friendly presents for anyone on your list. Ready for a Crafty Christmas?

First up is a DIY painted pillow. I love this gift idea because you can personalize every detail including the colors, phrase and paint design. My gift is for an adventurous go-getter, so I thought "Sparkle Brighter" fit perfectly.

Directions after the jump!

:: Materials Needed ::
  • Plain white decorative pillow. {The above was purchased from Home Goods}
  • Gold stencil spray. {You can get this at any craft store but I highly recommend Joann Fabrics. They had a ton of colors and variety to choose from}
  • Tape for creating your own stencil
  • Letter stickers

:: Step 1 :: Spell out your chosen phrase or word with your letter stickers. {Note - The letter stickers I used were leftover from scrap booking -- they don't have to be fabric specific to work.}

:: Step 2 :: Line the area that you want to paint with tape. Ensure that the tape is secure and there are no gaps throughout the lining. I also used brown bags to catch excess paint just in case.

:: Step 3 :: Spray area with stencil fabric paint. Let dry completely {Approximately 30 minutes}. You may need to gently soak up excess paint with a paper towel.

:: Step 4 :: Once dried, remove letter stickers and tape. Enjoy!
