Wedding Week :: Toasts, Dancing & More Dancing

In this last post of Wedding Week, I wrap up the tale of our wedding day the exact way that it ended: With endless dancing.

Immediately following the ceremony guests headed to the outdoor patio, which neighbored the ceremony area and reception tent, for cocktails and appetizers. Because we did most of our formal photos prior, Doug and I got to mingle with guests and enjoy the scenery, which was a wonderful way to say hi to those that we hadn't gotten a chance to the night prior.

Besides the delicious food, one of my favorite parts about the patio area was the drink station set up by the venue. They made a table out of two wine barrels hosting a rustic door, which was an adorable add-on to the details & DIY wedding decorations that awaited everyone in the reception tent.

After about an hour, it was time for the reception to begin. As guests headed into the tent, the wedding party met near the bridal cottage to line up for our entrance. The chosen introduction song? "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce & Jay-Z. {Can you tell who picked that one out? #LoveYouBey} Doug and I initially wanted to do a "Dirty Dancing" lift as our opening move, but after a few failed attempts we opted for the standard wave, twirl and "dip". Our wedding party, however, had some pretty clever moves up their sleeves, which not-surprisingly included a handstand.

Once everyone was seated, dinner was served. My dad opened the evening with a speech that was focused on all the amazing people who've been influential in Doug and my's life, and my step-dad gave a toast prior to everyone starting to eat. Next up for speeches were my co-maids of honor, Jessie and Katie, who included hysterical high school memories as well as fun #Emiloug memories. Chris, Doug's brother and best man, knocked it out of the park when he closed out the speeches with a standing ovation and {I'm not exaggerating} not a dry eye at the reception.

All the speeches were so sweet, emotional, funny, and kind . They're always one of my favorite parts of any wedding, but when it's your own wedding, it's truly the most special feeling.

After dinner was done, it was time to kick off dancing! Doug and I started things off with our first dance, which was to "You & Me" by Dave Matthews. As our song for years, we felt it perfectly encompassed our relationship and dreams for the future {as well as being fabulously twirl-worthy} so it was definitely an A+ choice.

My dad and I followed with our dance, which he picked "I Loved Her First" by Heartland as the song we danced to. In a very sweet moment, toward the end of the song, my dad shared his dance with my step-dad. It was so special to dance with them both! Next, Doug and his mom took the floor. They danced to "In My Life" by The Beatles, which the band was able to play acoustically

Once the formal dances were finished, the band kicked off with "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and a mad rush hit the floor as our guests started to bust some impressive moves. For the entire night, I don't think there was a minute where the floor wasn't packed. My adorable 96 year old grandma even got out there!

All in all, it was an absolute blast that included plenty of this....

...and a whoooole lot of this. <3
